enechain Appoints Former CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo as Senior Strategic Advisor and Former ICE Technology Leader RJ Cummings as Senior Technology Advisor

July 1, 2026

TOKYO – enechain Corporation today announced the appointment of J. Christopher Giancarlo, former Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, as Senior Strategic Advisor, and RJ Cummings, an early member of ICE’s founding team and former Head of Product Development, as Senior Technology Advisor.

Electricity is essential infrastructure that supports daily life and industry, and the ability to manage electricity price volatility is important to the stability of businesses and the broader economy. In Japan, since the full liberalization of the electricity retail market in 2016, wholesale electricity trading and related market functions have developed in stages. At the same time, against a backdrop of geopolitical risks and changes in supply-demand conditions, energy prices have at times experienced significant volatility, increasing the importance of marketplace functions and related tools that help energy market participants manage price risk.

In the United States and Europe, where energy market liberalization advanced earlier, decades of experience in commodity and derivatives markets — including power and gas — have helped establish practical principles around transparency, fairness, market conduct, liquidity, and risk management. As Japan’s energy marketplace continues to evolve, these international practices can provide useful reference points when adapted appropriately to Japan’s domestic market structure, regulatory environment, and participant needs.

Against this backdrop, enechain has appointed Mr. Giancarlo, who has extensive experience in the regulatory oversight and policy development of commodity and derivatives markets, as Senior Strategic Advisor. He will provide ongoing strategic counsel, with a particular focus on enhancing enechain’s voluntary marketplace governance and compliance framework, informed by global market and policy developments.

enechain has also appointed RJ Cummings as Senior Technology Advisor. Mr. Cummings was an early member of ICE’s founding team and served as Head of Product Development, contributing to the creation and scaling of globally recognized marketplace technology. He will advise enechain on the development roadmap of eSquare Live, enechain’s core marketplace platform, with the aim of helping it evolve into a global-standard platform for energy market participants.

“Japan’s energy market — with its scale and ongoing liberalization — represents one of the most consequential frontiers for transparent, well-functioning commodity marketplaces in Asia,” said Chris Giancarlo. “enechain is building fair, technology-enabled marketplace infrastructure that can support better price discovery, risk management, and the energy transition. I look forward to advising the team on marketplace governance and compliance, as well as its broader strategic roadmap.”

“enechain has the opportunity to build marketplace technology that can serve as critical infrastructure for energy market participants,” said RJ Cummings. “I look forward to advising the team on the development of eSquare Live and helping the platform scale with the reliability, usability, and technical architecture expected of global-standard marketplace infrastructure.”

“We are honored to welcome Chris and RJ as senior advisors,” said Ryo Nozawa, Founder and CEO of enechain. “Chris’s deep understanding of commodity markets and market oversight will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our marketplace governance and compliance framework. Moreover, RJ’s experience in building and scaling global marketplace technology will be equally important as we develop eSquare Live, our core marketplace platform into a platform that can support increasingly sophisticated energy trading needs. Their counsel will help us build a more transparent, resilient, and trusted energy marketplace in Japan.”
